Cycling Tour Ria Formosa Natural Park – Half Day

Tour Description

A cycling tour through Ria Formosa Natural Park is an immersive journey through diverse landscapes, including salt marshes, lagoons, and barrier islands. Cyclists explore stunning paths amidst rich biodiversity and vibrant coastal habitats, offering a unique and nature-filled adventure.

The cycling tour starts from our kiosk in Olhão, Jardim Patrão Joaquim Lopes, we head out to the fishing harbor through the industrial area.

Next we cycle to Ria Formosa Natural Park where with a guide you can observe the fauna and flora. In this Natural Park we can find many bird species, it is used as a resting area for migratory birds. Perfect nesting spot for birds arriving in spring, or the birds make the Ria Formosa their permanent habitat. Visit to the tide mill, all restored and with a fantastic panoramic view of the barrier islands of Olhão.

Afterwards we visit the Chalet Dr. João Lucio, now totally restored.
This architectural marvel showcases distinctive features of its era and holds significance as a representation of the region’s heritage. Its construction in 1916 makes it an intriguing part of Olhão’s history, offering a glimpse into the past and reflecting the architectural style prevalent during that period in the Algarve region.
The house has four entries distributed by the cardinal points. This Chalet has beautiful architecture and you will fall in love with the landscape. After visiting the inside and outside in detail we return to our kiosk.
