Tour Description
The Algarve offers a wide range of leisure options, satisfying the most demanding and imaginative tastes, such as yours, which is why we have programmed a super tour, resulting from the combination of two different, but equally exciting excursions – one by Rio and the other by land.
We start by enjoying a peaceful boat trip on the Arade River, to appreciate the beauty and tranquility of its banks.
Right after the boat trip, we invite you to travel in an all-terrain vehicle, the wonders of Nature, far from the asphalt and pollution, penetrating the “deep” and unknown Algarve, inaccessible to conventional motorized transport. Learn about the local fauna and flora and see old customs still in practice, such as honey production and the distillation of medronho, a local drink that you will have the opportunity to taste.
A tasty lunch is provided in a pleasant and typical restaurant.
After lunch it’s time to Return to your hotel by jeep.
Please note: depending on the tides, the program may be reversed!

Algarve Curiosities:
Medronho is a traditional fruit brandy in Portugal, especially popular in the Algarve region. Here are some interesting facts about this unique drink. Medronho is distilled from the fruit of the arbutus tree, known as the strawberry tree or “medronheiro” in Portuguese. The small red or orange berries are harvested from these trees to create the spirit.Crafting medronho is often a traditional and artisanal process passed down through generations. Families or small distilleries often produce it, using copper stills and specific techniques.
Medronho is a strong alcoholic drink, usually ranging between 40% to 48% alcohol by volume. It’s known for its potency and is typically sipped slowly and enjoyed in small quantities.
It holds cultural significance in some regions of Portugal, especially in the Algarve. It’s not just a beverage but often symbolizes conviviality and gatherings among locals and visitors alike.
While medronho might not be widely known outside of Portugal, it holds a special place in the hearts of many locals, representing tradition, craftsmanship, and the essence of the Algarve region.
The Rio Arade: is a river in the southern region of Portugal, specifically in the Algarve.
The Rio Arade flows through the Algarve region, starting in the Serra do Caldeirão mountains and winding its way through towns such as Silves, Portimão, and Ferragudo before reaching the Atlantic Ocean.
As the Rio Arade approaches Portimão, it widens considerably. Portimão is a larger coastal town known for its beaches, marina, and vibrant waterfront area. The river plays a significant role in the town’s maritime activities and leisure pursuits.
The Rio Arade is navigable, and boat tours or cruises are popular activities for tourists, offering a different perspective on the Algarve’s landscapes and allowing visitors to explore the river and its surroundings.
The river’s course through both urban and more rural areas showcases the diverse landscapes of the Algarve, offering picturesque views of hillsides, valleys, and coastal scenery.
Beyond boat tours, the Rio Arade provides opportunities for various water sports, fishing, and leisurely walks or cycling along its banks, attracting both locals and tourists.
This river isn’t just a geographical feature but a significant part of the region’s identity, influencing the landscape, culture, and recreational activities along its course.
