Mother Nature has created a land full of natural beauty, ready to be explored, in the blue immensity of the Atlantic Ocean: the Azores.

To the East, on the island of Santa Maria, the beaches of warm white sand are inviting, and the vineyards covering the slopes like an amphitheater resemble giant staircases. São Miguel, the largest island, is seductive with its Sete Cidades and Fogo Lagoons. The power that emanates from the earth is felt in the geysers, hot thermal waters and volcanic lakes, as well as in the tasty “Cozido das Furnas” slowly cooked inside the earth.

1 Day:

Arrival at Ponta Delgada

Transfer from the airport to the hotel (Ponta Delgada) to leave your luggage.

Half a day  at Ponta Delgada – Walking Tour

This day begins with a visit to the center of Ponta Delgada, where you can observe its historic center and all its attractions. buildings dating from the 16th century, in which the Baroque style is predominant.

After passing through the historic center, a stop at Jardim António Borges, public botanical garden, building in the 19th century. XIX, where it is possible to admire hundreds of exotic species introduced on the island. Then, visit the Mercado da Graça, a local market where products sold on the island are displayed and sold. Return to the Hotel.



2 Day:

Sao Miguel Full day –  Hiking Sete Cidades Tour

This trail starts near the “Muro das Nove Janelas”, a stone aqueduct formerly used to supply water to public fountains in the city of Ponta Delgada. Along this path it is possible to observe both Lagoons (Green and Blue), 1st Natural Wonder of Portugal, as well as wide views of the north and south coasts of São Miguel and several species of endemic flora. The trail ends in the center of Sete Cidades parish.

3 Day:

São Miguel Full day  – Furnas 

The day starts with a stop in Vila Franca do Campo, the island’s first capital, where you can not only admire the famous Vila Franca islet, but also visit the “Queijada do Morgado” factory, a convent sweet, better known as Queijadas da Vila (optional). Continuing the route, we continue to Furnas, where, on the banks of the romantic Lagoa das Furnas, the trail will start. In the middle of the trail you can not only admire the Lagoon, but also several endemic and exotic species introduced to the island. The visit to Parque dos Cozidos (visit not included) is then made, a place used to make the famous Furnas stew using only the heat from this volcano. After observing this phenomenon, the trail continues until the parish of Furnas where, a stop at Poça da Dona Beija (Park of thermal pools), will take place, here you will have the opportunity to relax in these waters. After the bath, you will then proceed to the restaurant where the Famous stew will be served. After lunch, return to Ponta Delgada, with a final stop at the factory and tea plantations in Gorreana.

4 Day:

São Miguel Full day Hike Faial da Terra – Sanguinho – Salto do Prego

This small circular route in Faial da Terra starts next to the bus stop. The trail continues along a dirt path, always referring to the Faial da Terra stream, on the right. After 2.5 km, continue towards Salto do Prego, one of the most beautiful waterfalls on the island where you can also bathe in the cold waters of Ribeira do Faial da Terra. Along the trail the vegetation is more tight, with Incense (Pittosporum undulatum) and Acácia (Acacia melanoxylon) as predominant species. After bathing, follow the path towards Sanguinho, a picturesque village located in the middle of the vegetation. Then, the return to the parish of Faial da Terra is carried out.

5 Day:

São Miguel – Santa Maria

Transfer from the Hotel to the Maritime terminal. Ferry to Santa Maria in the morning and return to São Miguel at the end of the day

Full day Hike Pico Alto – Baía dos Anjos This hiking trail starts on the forest road of Pico Alto, the island’s highest point at 591 meters above sea level, passing through Barreiro da Faneca, through Baía da Cré, ending at Anjos . On this trail it is possible to observe the entire island of Santa Maria as well as, when the weather permits, also to see the nearest island (São Miguel Island).
