Walking the amazing Vicentine Route
The Beaches of the Vincentine Route are its greatest treasures. Of incredible beauty, they still have their primitive natural surroundings and the tranquility of Nature in its pure state. These trails made by local fisherman to get to the beaches and hot fishing spots are challenging and impressive by the permanent contact with the wild and powerful natural landscape.
Note:. This program was planned for active clients that are able to walk 20 to 22 Km per day.
Not recommended for people with vertigo or fear of heights ( Usually it has a big distance between the path and the cliffs, you feel always secure)

1 Day:
Arrival to Lisbon airport and private transfer to Porto Covo. Our driver will be waiting for you at the airport

2 Day:
Porto Covo – Vila Nova de Milfontes
20 Km, 7h, Difficult
You will start in a very special area of Portugal. Porto Covo get knonwed by the Portuguese Rock singer Rui Veloso that composed a song for Ilha do Pessegueiro. Get ready for a long and difficult journey that will be rewarded with the arriving at the hotel HS in Milfontes. This trails were used by the fisherman to acces the sea. On the way get amazed by the diversity of beaches such as Ilha do Pessegueiro, Aivados and Malhão. Stay in Hotel HS Mil fontes. Dinner at a local restaurant.
3 Day:
Vila Nova de Milfontes – Almograve
15Km, 5h, Somewhat Difficult
Vila Nova de Milfontes is probably the busiest town along the entire coast. Crossing the bridge you will have amazing views over Vila Nova de Milfontes. The natural vegetation attracts many different species of birds and small mammals. Walk along the coast. Transfer to Herdade da Estacada – Rural Tourism House. Dinner at the hotel
4 Day:
Almograve – Zambujeira do Mar
22Km, 7h, Somewhat Difficult
During this journey you can appreciate reddish sand dunes is also the unique place in the world where you can see storks nesting on the cliifs. Here you can also see Peregrine Falcon, Jackdaw and Black Redstart. More than twenty species of birds nest in this site. Stop for a few minutes to see the light house of cape Sardão. Many tourist says that is one of the most beautiful walking tour they made. Stay in Monte das Alpenduradas – Rural Tourism House. Dinner at the hotel.
5 Day:
Zambujeira do Mar – Odeceixe
18Km, 7h, Somewhat Difficult
In this trail you can find amazing cliffs made by the decompose plants. After dyeing and decompose, the sandstone shells that surrounded the roots remain there, hollow, an interesting and intriguing find for any walker. Also you will also find abundant signs of the presence of mammals, especially carnivores living among the dunes, but will be find to see them because most part they are nocturnal. Rabbits are other mammals that build their burrows in the most stable of the sand dunes. Rest at the rural hotel Casa Vicentina or similar. Dinner at the hotel
6 Day:
Odeceixe – Aljezur
Option 1 – Historical way to Aljezur (18 Km)
18km, Easy
If we take this option, today we will be walking along Mira’s watering channel, fed by the waters of Santa Clara’s dam. You can see for miles around you, with the mountains to the east and the ocean to the west. This walk through the coastal upland crosses farmland growing sweet potatoes, maize, peanuts and tomatoes, interspersed with areas of pine and eucalyptus trees. Close to the villages and houses or “montes” there are smallholdings and orchards of olives, lemons, oranges, loquats and figs. Finally, in the lee of the sea breeze, Aljezur emerges, overlooking the valley, its soil made fertile whenever the river is swollen. Stay at Vicentina Aparthotel. Dinner at a local restaurant.
Option 2 – Odeceixe beach and Historical trail till Aljezur (23 Km)
23 Km, Easy
Today we can combine the Fisherman trail of Odeceixe Beach with the Historical Trail to arrive to Aljezur. Odeceixe beach is astonishing. The initial part of this circuit is side by side with the Seixe river. The wetlands at the mouth of rivers and streams are areas of high productivity. They are the breeding place for many minuscule life forms which feed the fish, reptiles, birds and mammals. Keep your adventures joining for the first time the historical route. This walk through the coastal upland crosses farmland growing sweet potatoes, maize, peanuts and tomatoes, interspersed with areas of pine and eucalyptus trees. After lunch walk through the Amoreira Beach trail Stay at Vicentina Aparthotel. Dinner at a local restaurant.
7 Day:
Aljezur – Arrifana
14 Km, 4h, Somewhat Easy
Today we will make a circular walk. Starting by the historical way, at Km 3 we will take the fishermen trail to arrive to Arrifana. Along this walk we will be passing by the beach of Monte Clérigo and walk by the coast, passing in the mythical Ponta da Atalia. In a place marked by the strength of legends and the time of the Portuguese conquest of the Moors, this walk is a real trip back in time.
The beginning of this circuit crosses recently urbanised areas, but leads to unique and extraordinary locations. The manmade lake, despite its origins, constitutes an interesting habitat for wildlife, requiring a silent approach and the use of binoculars. The reed beds on the edge of the lake are the habitats to watch closely. We will get back to Aljezur by eucalypt trees track. Stay at Vicentina Aparthotel. Dinner at a local restaurant.
8 Day:
Check Out and private transfer to the airport (Lisbon or Faro)
